What is DYKE QUEEN?

DYKE QUEEN started as a personal DIY zine featuring poems and essays that were written by Yez Villarreal and designed and illustrated by Bridget Ore for L.A. Zine Fest in 2017.

DYKE QUEEN was selected as an “Issues Resident” by Hello Mr. in 2018. After the residency, DQ became a magazine (though we decided to keep our DIY roots as a zine in the name) that featured the Mexican fashion designer Barbara Sanchez Kane, the multidisciplinary artist Teresita de la Torre, and the poet Alex Hall, among others.

Dyke Queen is a QPOC zine about style, arts, and literature.

Why subscribe?

It’s hard to keep a print publication going because it requires funding for printing. Our hope with the newsletter is to use it as a way to create an online platform to feature interviews, blog posts, and other fun content with queer women/nonbinary/trans people.

We want to return to print one day, but for now you can support us by subscribing, sharing with your friends, or suggesting content/ideas you would like to see in DYKE QUEEN.
